One-to-one Tuition and Mentoring
Individual tuition is the fastest way to make progress and develop your craft. We offer mentoring to writers at every stage of the journey, from first attempts to full novels. We can also help you prepare for MA applications, agent submissions and readings. Feedback is thorough and detailed but always supportive, with the aim of helping you develop confidence in your writing and editing skills.
One-to-one teaching is with Susanna Jones at present, specialising in prose fiction and non-fiction. More mentors will be joining Pebble Beach in 2022.

One-off mentoring sessions for prose
A session of 60 minutes to discuss up to 5,000 words of prose: £150.
The fee includes reading time, line-by-line feedback, a written report, suggestions for development.

Tuition for Beginners: initial discussion and 5 x 45 minute sessions £275
A great way to make progress, try things out and start to find your voice, especially for those who are unable to get to a class or prefer to study alone.
You'll work on (a) short piece(s) of up to about 1000 words per session and submit this in advance. In the session you'll get detailed editorial feedback, tuition on technique and ideas to help you develop your work further. You could work on a new piece each time or use the sessions to develop a longer piece. If you have something you want to work on, you can bring that or we can discuss prompts and ideas to get you started.
To help you develop a regular writing routine we'd recommend scheduling the sessions 2-3 weeks apart but that's up to you. The five sessions should be used within six months of payment.
One-to-one sessions can be delivered online or by phone, whichever you prefer.
Mentoring sessions are subject to availability and being able to find a suitable time for both parties.
